The most ordinary things, such as a yellow dandelion plant at the wayside can be an inspiration for an illustration. The English name »dandelion« comes from the Middle French word »dent de lion« from the early 15th century, meaning literally »lion’s tooth«. The plant got its name after the characteristic jagged shape of the leaves and its a real allrounder in nature. The plant is valued for its healing powers as well as in European cuisine. Little Fun fact: You can also eat dandelion as a salad, but it has a pretty diuretic effect, why it is also called in French »Pissenlit« (Piss in bed). This illustration was originally made for the official In-App tutorial for »Illustrator« in collaboration with Adobe. Additionally the dandelion flower illustration was risoprinted as artprinted in a four-color limited edition and as postcards.
